“The Periscope House remained a concept, which is incredibly spectacular and environmentally friendly at the same time.
Art historian Xaveer Claerhout and architect Barbara Van Biervliet founded a multidisciplinary studio: the award-winning office Architects Claerhout-Van Biervliet has designed countless buildings, primarily high-end residences, but also cultural institutions and offices.
The Periscope House, however, remained (for now?) a concept, but still won the Architizer A+ Award in the Unbuilt Residential category. The Belgian architecture firm’s “special unit,” the Metamorphic Art Studio, designs many things at the intersection of art, design, and architecture; since 2012, some of their artworks have been included in the permanent collection of the Pompidou.”
